Happy New Year from the AFN team! We hope you had a good break.
As we mentioned before the holidays, we’re continuing the Network’s activities into 2026 and beyond. Before looking ahead, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what we achieved together over the past three and a half years.
Since 2022, AFN has grown into a community of over 3,100 members including farmers, scientists, policy analysts, community leaders, retailers, politicians, businesses and health professionals.
We’ve hosted almost 40 webinars with close to 20,000 engagements, held three Big Tent events, funded 21 Champions, commissioned 30 scoping studies, and supported 24 practitioner-led projects through the Stakeholder FlexFund – giving out over £2M in total.
Our work culminated in the Roadmap for Resilience, launched in Westminster last autumn, which is already informing conversations across government and the sector. Through this work, we’ve built connections with change-makers across government, industry, and civil society, helping to shape thinking on the UK’s path to a resilient food system.
None of this would have been possible without your involvement—thank you.
So what’s next?
We’ll be continuing our webinar series in 2026, with a particular focus on the new food strategy being developed by Government. Our newsletters and digests will keep coming, and we’re in discussions with potential funders to expand our activities further. We’re also working on plans for the Network’s next chapter and look forward to sharing more with you soon.
In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you. What would you like to see from AFN this year? What conversations should we be convening? Please get in touch at contact@agrifood4netzero.net.
Wishing you all the best for 2026,
Angelina, Elta, Neil, Sarah and Stefan
