AFN Continues: Thank you and what’s ahead

We’ve had fantastic input to the AFN Network+ over the past three-and-a-half years & we’ve really enjoyed working with this wonderful community!

We had some really lovely feedback through our members’ survey and we’ve been really struck by the positive response we’ve had from across our community of farmers, scientists, policy analysts, community leaders, retailers, politicians, businesses and health professionals.

Because of this positive feedback and the extent of engagement across the membership, we know that the AFN has provided value to the agri-food community. We’ll be continuing the basic activities and spirit of the Network into the future. We have secured some initial funding to carry on our webinar series and knowledge exchange activities, including newsletters and digests. We are also having positive discussions with potential funders to expand beyond this core activity in future. We will be hosting a webinar series in 2026 that builds on the AFN work to date and helps focus thinking around the new food strategy being developed by Government.

There are some changes of faces. Tim Benton will be retiring from the team but has kindly agreed to join our new Council of Advisors. Elta Smith, a Year Three Network Champion, has joined the team alongside Angelina Sanderson Bellamy, Sarah Bridle, Stefan Kepinski and Neil Ward.

We are very grateful to the core project team, all our Champions, our seven Co-investigators who made up our management team, and our external Advisory Board, chaired by Judith Batchelar OBE and Charles Godfray, for all their help and support. We also want to thank all the AFN members who have engaged with the Network.

We’d love to hear from you – please get in touch. You can reach us at contact@agrifood4netzero.net.

There’s plenty more to come in 2026 and we look forward to continuing to work with you!
