Launch of Culture Roots Collective
Culture Roots Collective, a BPOC (Black and People of Colour) hub to celebrate, inform and engage people in UK food, farming and agriculture, is now live. The hub was developed by partners including the AFN Network+, Sustain and Eating Better.
Culture Roots Collective is a BPOC-led collective uniting Black and People of Colour working across food, farming, and land stewardship. It aims to reclaim people’s relationships with land and agriculture, restore ancestral knowledge, and cultivate just food systems for communities. The Culture Roots Collective platform is dedicated to amplifying the voices of Black and People of Colour in UK agriculture and food.
What they do: Culture Roots Collective will build community and resilience at the intersections of culture, land, and liberation through:
- Highlighting BPOC-led farming, food, and land-based projects
- Uplifting BPOC traditions through storytelling and history
- Creating space for cultural exchange and learning
- Celebrating the deep cultural knowledge embedded in food systems
- Building networks of BPOC growers, educators and activists
- Advocating for equitable access to land, resources, and decision-making
- Sharing tools, training, and mutual aid to strengthen grassroots food movements
