Pasture for Life
Awarded: £5,000
Pasture for Life’s Wales Regional Facilitator will deliver 6 in-person and 6 online farmer-farmer knowledge exchange events for the farming community across Wales. These will help farmers reduce agri-chemical and feed inputs and work towards a farming system that is circular and dependent on ecological processes for its resources. The events will also raise the profile of Pasture for Life and help grow membership whilst building a larger and more cohesive community in Wales around low input 100% pasture-fed farming systems.
Key findings
- There is an appetite for on-farm events in Wales.
- Farmers value the opportunity to learn from each other in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.
- Work needs to be done to widen the public awareness of pasture-fed produce and how that benefits the climate.
Recommendations for further research and activity
- More events across Wales.
- Topics ranging from practical farming advice, animal health, food, abattoirs, butchers, eating quality, conservation grazing.
- More consumer-focussed events to raise awareness of the benefits (flavour, human health, animal welfare, carbon footprint, and biodiversity) of pasture-fed produce.
