Russell Regen
Awarded: £4,997
Working directly with farmers that are keen to adopt regenerative farming approaches, Russell Regen facilitates the transition process to deliver financial and environmental sustainability for farmers. The project will conduct research with key stakeholders in North Lancashire to understand how the TYFA-Regio (Ten Years for Agroecology Regional) model can be rolled out across the UK and result in meaningful improvements in local food systems.
Key findings
- Technically, it should be possible to adapt the model to regional level, however, it may require using different inputs/outputs to the model.
- A regional model will be valuable to organisations working towards Net Zero.
- It will be valuable to farmer representative bodies (e.g. PfL) provided that the resources are
simple.
Further activity
- Regional modelling to be carried out by an experienced researcher within one year and
minimise reliance on external researchers. - Start by updating the original model with updated datasets (e.g. 7th CCC budget) then create
the regional version. - The model should be UK-wide but with greater granularity to allow to “zoom in” to regional
level.
