Soil food web technician / soil health advisor | Farming with microbes
Composting farm manures and crop residues/waste for improved soil health, farm resilience, reduced reliance on chemical inputs. Exploring mapping tools and using field tests to think holistically about the farm as a living system. Collect data using a mix of in-field observation and microscopy to measure the effect of this on soil health, farm productivity and resilience.
I am a design educator working at the intersection of art and ecology. I use tools of design thinking and creativity to replenish and restore soil's biological processes that co-evolved with plants over millennia. I promote using natural microbes specific to place to make a special kind of controlled compost that is alive with the keystone organisms that make up the soil food web. These are usually applied to soil as either a seed inoculant or liquid amendment. I am a certified soil food web technician and microscopist and can offer biological analysis of soil and composts, I also offer microscope training to individuals and groups to equip farmers with the skills to assess the presence/absence of benefical microbes in their soils and composts.

Anouk is a Research Fellow specialising in Nutritional Epidemiology and Planetary Health at LSHTM. She mainly contributes to two research projects at LSHTM aiming at exploring pathways of sustainable food consumption in European settings (ABC-SHEADE) and South African settings (SHEFS-2). She is as an engineer in food sciences as a background and has completed a PhD in Public Health from Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, which focused on exploring the determinants of the rebalance between animal and plant-based foods among non-vegetarian French adults, using a model of behavior change.

I co-lead the LUNZ HUB Futures Platform, developing pathways to emissions abatement for the agriculture and land use sectors across the UK. I also lead similar work for DESNZ and Defra within the Land Climate Programme. I am an experienced interdisciplinary researcher with a background in forestry and conservation and within Eunomia Research and Consulting I head up the Sustainable Land Use, Food, Farming and Forestry team.

Strengthening the connection between research and policy
I am a postgraduate researcher at UWE Bristol, investigating how public policy instruments are used to tackle environmental issues in food strategies, paying special attention to how the past influences our future. My research explores policy mixes, foresight methods, sustainability governance, and stakeholder engagement to address challenges in food systems. I have extensive experience in qualitative research, working as a research assistant on projects related to the circular economy in food supply chains and the social aspects of sustainability. I have also developed quantitative research skills, contributing to studies on sustainable transport and public perception. My latest publication explores multistakeholder interventions to reduce carbon emissions in the food system at a local level using plant-based diets. Before academia, I worked in the finance and banking sector, giving me a unique perspective on the economic and regulatory dimensions of sustainability transitions. I hold an MSc in Environmental Management (Distinction) and a BA in English Philology (Distinction).

After graduating from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Geography I started working with Stockfree Farming in 2020. Throughout my years being here, I have researched many topics such as leaf protein concentrate viability, agroforestry and orchard enterprise budgets, and the market potential of veganic food. My role here at Stockfree Farming entails advocating for policy change, supporting existing stockfree farmers and crofters, and those wishing to transition stockfree farming and alternative forms of land management.

Before beginning her PhD study with SPRU (Science Policy Research Unit) of the University of Sussex under the UK Food System Center for Doctoral Training Grace Inegbedion has more than five years of post-graduate experience, with the last four years in the non-profit agric development sector. Grace has worked as a Research Support Staff, at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), a CGIAR not-for-profit international agriculture research institute working towards eradicating hunger in Sub-Saharan Africa. She obtained a Master’s degree from Nottingham Trent University, the UK in Global Food Security and Development under the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme where she graduated top of her class. Grace is particularly interested in agriculture, especially in the areas of global food security and just transition in the agri-food system with a focus on sustainable agriculture production.
