With a background in Business and Economics (B.A.) and European Global Studies (M.A.) from the University of Basel, Switzerland, I bring a critical interdisciplinary perspective to analyzing the integration of food policies and climate change mitigation. About me

I’m Tom and I am a freelance research consultant. I offer bespoke research, development and support services to businesses and individuals who want to improve the way they work – through strategic thinking and the latest science and technology. I also specialise in the mapping, measuring and analysis of the world around us in 2D and 3D. Since 2007, I have worked extensively with: a) Airborne, terrestrial and mobile laser scanning b) Satellite and aerial imagery (optical, multispectral, radar) c) GIS and geospatial analysis For over 15 years I have worked in research labs, at sea, in deep forest and on civil engineering sites. About me

With over 25 years of experience in the agricultural, environmental and business sectors, James Oyesola is a passionate and innovative leader committed to advancing nature-based solutions vis-a-vis amalgamation of ecosystem-based adaptation-driven Agriculture and Clean Energy policies and operationalisation. He is currently the Director of Tree Crops and Rural Development Services at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ogun State Nigeria, overseeing sustainable tree crop production through agroforestry and serving as the focal point on climate change. James is a member of Nigeria National Cocoa Management Committee @NCMC the highest Cocoa ruling body in Nigeria and a Member of the National Climate Change Adaptation Technical Committee Nigeria. James is the National President of the United Nations Environment Program ( UNEP) Ecosystem-Based Adaptation for Food Security Assembly Nigeria ( UNEP-EBAFOSA), a subsidiary of the United Nations Global Adaptation Network (GAN) and platform that promotes the integration of renewable energy and ecosystem-based adaptation in agricultural/environmental policies and operations. He spearheaded the establishment of the first-ever UNEP-EBAFOSA Climate Change Policy Coherence Task Force, which coordinates climate action across different sectors and stakeholders. He also led the pilot scheme of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing Facility for Agricultural Lending, which supports entrepreneurs who market and use clean energy for value addition in agriculture. James holds a first degree in General Agriculture, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Agribusiness), Master’s by Research (MRes ) degree in Environmental Management at the University of Bolton United Kingdom (UK). He also earned an executive certificate in Climate Change and Energy Policy for the long term at the University of Harvard Kennedy School of Government United States of America (USA). James is a member of several professional and technical bodies - the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), and a Fellow (FCAl ) from the Institution of Corporate Administration. James is the founder and CEO of Nature-Based Solution Entrepreneur Nigeria. He has been involved in and delivered many webinars on Climate action (SDG 13) and its interlinkages to other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relating to Water, Energy, and Food Nexus. My background is in astroparticle physics, and I'm currently doing post-doctoral research in radio astronomy. However, I have a growing passion for sustainable agriculture and food technology. I believe optimizing food production and related processes is crucial for addressing climate change. Given this interest, I'm open to transitioning from astronomy to climate science, particularly focusing on sustainable agriculture and farming. Many of my skills from physics and astronomy are transferable to this field, and I'm excited to explore new opportunities in this direction.
