The Gathering Table: A summit on racial justice in food and farming
This was a truly transformative event about diversity and inclusion across the food landscape. It was an opportunity to tune in, and learn of the experience of many different people across the day and how we all interact within the food system and have a place in making a kinder, fairer world for everyone.
The day started with a life-affirming workshop on storytelling. Delegates had the chance to contextualise the food system within their own lives and the lives of others. This led to a shared understanding of how we are all connected by one of the core tenets of life and spirit, food. It set the scene for some of the more practical knowledge-sharing through panels and workshops with the leaders in the field on what racial justice looks like and how we can all champion a fairer, kinder and more beautiful society.
Delegates had a wonderful time getting to know each other and forging deeper connections as we stand together creating the future of food.
The day was led by the AFN Network+, Eating Better and Sustain, and focused on racial justice in food and farming. It brought together experts, activists, and community members to discuss important issues surrounding diversity and inclusion in the food industry.
