The University of Aberdeen: Agroecology – a Rapid Evidence Review

The University of Aberdeen (2022) Agroecology – a Rapid Evidence Review
The Climate Change Committee commissioned The University of Aberdeen to assess the role of agroecological farming in the UK in the transition to Net Zero. Agroecology is a less intensive farming system than conventional agriculture, based on utilising the natural interactions between plants, animals, humans and the environment to support sustainable food production, whilst restoring ecosystem services and building resilience to climate change. This report reviews the scientific evidence on the environmental impact of agricultural practices that are used in agroecology that are proposed to enhance productivity and resilience of agroecosystems.
