I am interested in working with other members on
Composting farm manures and crop residues/waste for improved soil health, farm resilience, reduced reliance on chemical inputs. Exploring mapping tools and using field tests to think holistically about the farm as a living system. Collect data using a mix of in-field observation and microscopy to measure the effect of this on soil health, farm productivity and resilience.
About me
I am a design educator working at the intersection of art and ecology. I use tools of design thinking and creativity to replenish and restore soil's biological processes that co-evolved with plants over millennia. I promote using natural microbes specific to place to make a special kind of controlled compost that is alive with the keystone organisms that make up the soil food web. These are usually applied to soil as either a seed inoculant or liquid amendment.
I am a certified soil food web technician and microscopist and can offer biological analysis of soil and composts, I also offer microscope training to individuals and groups to equip farmers with the skills to assess the presence/absence of benefical microbes in their soils and composts.
