About me

I am a principal marine ecologist and science topic lead for 'aquatic food systems' and for 'coastal ecology' at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science. I am an honorary associate professor at the University of East Anglia, science lead for 'biodiversity and ecosystems' at the Cefas-UEA Collaborative Centre for Sustainable Use of the Seas and a member of the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development. Taking a systems approach, I conduct applied research and provide policy advice on sustainability in aquatic food systems and on the effects of broader human activities on marine ecosystems. I work with colleagues from natural, social, political and health/medical sciences and humanities across governments, universities, industry and global organisations. I am the co-lead of the One Food initiative (https://onefoodcommunity.org/).
